Senior “Caps and Gowns” Dress Rehearsal Interrupted By Drone Confetti
During last Thursday’s senior photo rehearsal, a fleet of Photography Club drones–programmed to shower graduates with celebratory confetti–malfunctioned and released hundreds of mylar strips mid-portrait. The mirrored confetti reflected sunlight into students’ eyes, causing temporary dazzle and one dramatic sneeze that scattered caps across the quad.
Mrs. Padilla, coordinating the shoot, exclaimed, “I just wanted them to sparkle, not sparkle-blind!” Drone pilots scrambled to land their devices, while seniors turned the mishap into impromptu confetti angels on the grass.
The administration has ordered drone safety recalibrations and designated a “Confetti Cleardown Crew” for future events. Meanwhile, Mr. Harris promises next year’s rehearsal will feature only biodegradable petals–no lasers, no drones, and definitely no snow angel reenactments.
